About this event

See “Becoming Buffalo,” a 25-minute film examining a pivotal chapter in Miccosukee history, followed by a Q&A with actor, writer and director Montana Cypress. Presented in recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the film recounts the Miccosukee Tribe’s response to U.S. government efforts to terminate its relationship with Florida tribes. The story follows the Tribe’s diplomatic efforts during the Cold War, including a visit to Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

Sponsored in part by Visit Gainesville, Alachua County.
