About this event
We play the Wooly at 6 PM sharp! Formed in 1998 by Rock, Teddy DuChamp's Army was only meant to be a one off performance at a New Years Eve party where he enlisted a group of his closest friends to play some songs he had written. Somewhat basic in their structure and technicality, this is where the songs also found their beauty.
The chords and melodies were honest and filled with hooks, without getting too caught up trying to reinvent the “musical wheel” so to speak. Surrounded by the growing popularity of the more technical “math rock” scene led by Pittsburgh's own Don Caballero, Rock had a desire to reconnect to music he felt on a deeper level, like the music he grew up listening to and fell in love with. The band's core lineup, including vocalist Andy Wright, a scene veteran of the local anarcho-punk scene, went on to release a demo an EP, and cross crossed the country multiple times sharing the stage with bands like Hot Water Music, Strike Anywhere, Dillinger Four, Paint it Black, Alkaline Trio, Small Brown Bike, and None More Black before eventually signing with Eyeball Records in New Jersey who at the time was blowing up with bands like Thursday, My Chemical Romance and Murder By Death.

Due to some line up changes, including the addition of drummer Jeff Kopanic, the band opted for a name change for their upcoming release. They released the album “Signals in Transmission”under the moniker Voice In The Wire. A mere 6 months into the release of their debut album, while out west on tour with hardcore legends 7 seconds, the band found themselves dealing with crippling van troubles and another void in the line up.
A few hasty decisions later and the band had called it quits, playing a final show to a sold out crowd at NYC's famous CBGB's with friends Kid Dynamite. Cut to Summer of 2024, the band is asked to reunite as Teddy DuChamp's Army to play with New York Hardcore legends Gorilla Biscuits. They quickly put together a line up and to take advantage of the opportunity.
During the rehearsals leading up to the show, the band found a renewed energy and love for playing music together. Rock, Wright and Kopanic found themselves wanting to work on new music together for the first time in two decades. While discussing recording the new music with friend and Magpie Cage Studio owner/producer, and general punk rock legend J Robbins, Rock mentioned they needed to find a bass player for the record, when Robbins stepped up and offered to handle low end duties on the recording.
Mario Quintero, also of the bands Spotlights(Ipecac records) and Sisters joined the band and rounded out the lineup as a second guitar player. J's bass parts highlight his years of being a legend in the melodic post hardcore punk genre and the addition of Mario Quintero's creative and fresh approach are what you have come to expect from a seasoned creative giant of a musician and Berkeley School of Music graduate. The rebirth of the band had truly begun.
TDA entered Baltimore's Magpie Cage in January of 2026 with 12 new songs in their arsenal. With Rock on guitar, Wright on Vocals, and Kopanic behind the drum kit, “...spirit”, still sounds very much like a TDA record for long time fans. But with the maturity that comes with two decades of experiences of lives lived and the additions of Robbins and Quintero there is an undeniable feeling of something new and exciting on this record.
The band is releasing “...the spirit never dies.” on October 9th, 2026 via a coalition put together by Sweet Cheetah Record's and publicity head Tim Anderl in conjunction with Philadelphia's legendary indie label Creep Records handling the release in the US and Engineer Records (UK) Scene Police (Europe/Germany) .
