About this event
With deep roots in the Appalachian folk tradition and a voice that feels like it’s been carried on the mountain wind, Tina & Her Pony brings a uniquely soulful presence to the stage. Known for lush harmonies, country folk storytelling, and songs that soothe as much as they stir, Tina’s music carries a quiet magic that lingers long after the last note. From the hills of Asheville to the deserts of New Mexico, she’s spent over a decade refining her sound by melding classic folk with touches of Americana, and more recently, dreamy pop and psychedelic soul.
Indie Appalachian Folk Band Tina & Her Pony was formed in 2009. Front woman Tina Collins (tenor ukulele, guitar, vocals) spent two years holed up in the high desert mountain town of Taos, New Mexico, making music and friends, and became one of the iconic artist colony’s most beloved performing acts. The band currently calls Asheville, North Carolina home.

“Tina & Her Pony deliver a gentle folk music that inexorably swells into a powerful wave. The songs themselves carry a gentle wisdom that invigorates the listener. Tina & Her Pony truly commit to a kind of chamber folk that feels as timeless as it does timely.” – Rachel Cholst, NO DEPRESSION Tina & Her Pony has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, sharing stages with Dar Williams, Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters, Rising Appalachia, Elephant Revival, Edie Carey and Girlyman.
In a soundscape rich in folk and americana offerings Tina and Her Pony (Tina Collins and a rotating cast of band members) stand out with their clarity and freshness. Harmonies, arrangements, lyrics and captivating vocals combine to create something greater than the sum of the pieces which, taken individually, are deceptively straightforward. Their talents are honed sharper on their latest release, "Champion" (2017), which chronicles complex emotional landscapes with the kind of wisdom and honesty required from roots music in its most distilled and cherished forms.
